"When we understand who we are, we can build healthier relationships"
Greetings! My name is MaryAnne Galloway, and I am proud of my Puerto Rican heritage while embracing Christian values. Fluent in both English and Spanish, my cultural background affords me a profound understanding of the Latino community and the unique stressors that often lead to parent-child conflicts and challenges in comprehending mental health nuances. It is this cultural awareness that has fueled my passion for a profession I have dedicated over 20 years to.
With an extensive background in case management and counseling, I have honed my skills while providing intensive in-home individual and family counseling. My approach incorporates various modalities, fostering an environment that respects cultural values and helps individuals navigate their emotions and behaviors to effectively communicate their individual needs.
Life's transitions can present traumatic challenges leading to overwhelming feelings of anxiety and depression. These emotions can cloud our ability to perform optimally and set achievable goals, often resulting in maladaptive behaviors impacting safety and overall well-being. Understanding and managing these emotions is the key focus of my practice. I specialize in offering creative and enjoyable methods tailored to children and families, creating a safe space for trust and openness.
My expertise also extends to couples counseling, parent-child conflicts and more. I am well-versed in Bowen's Family Systems Theory, which delves into generational patterns of behaviors and thinking, shedding light on maladaptive survival patterns, anxiety, and depression. Certified in both the Nurtured Heart Approach and the Nurturing Parenting Program curriculum, I provide parents with culturally sensitive tools to comprehend themselves better, ultimately becoming the best parents to break these generational patterns.
Currently serving on the Child Study Team, I bring insight from the Special Education Process and classifications that significantly impact home dynamics. For instance, a student with limited language or processing abilities may face challenges meeting parental expectations, often misinterpreted as behavioral issues.
I am prepared to partner with you on your journey to emotional wellness and balance. My commitment to cultural awareness, combined with a wealth of experience, ensures a holistic and inclusive therapeutic approach. Together, I am confident that we can create the shifts needed to live life to the fullest with confidence, presence, and stability. Let's embark on this transformative journey together!
